Share

Nanaimo RCMP are asking for the public’s help in finding a stolen safety/assistance vessel.

The vehicle was stolen sometime early Friday morning from a Seaplane dock in Nanaimo, and was moored without its keys in a specially fitted dock.

The theft would have required at least two people, and could have been removed from the harbour by either towing it with another vessel, or by being paddled out to open water.

The boat, a Typhoon 580 RHIB, is blue with grey markings, is roughly 19’ long, and has a 90 hp Yamaha engine.

The vessel was equipped with life jacket’s, fire extinguishers, towing ropes, throw bags and other life saving equipment. The estimated cost to replace the vessel and the equipment it had on board is $25,000 to $30,000.

The boat’s hull ID is CNBHFR5802D616, and its Transport Canada Register # C25994BC.

Anyone with information on the vessel is asked to contact the Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
