Our Place Society is serving an early Thanksgiving meal today

Share

Victoria’s most vulnerable members of society will be enjoying an early Thanksgiving lunch at Our Place Society this afternoon.

The city’s largest community centre normally serves over 1,000 meals a day and provides homeless and at risk community members with showers, clothing, counselling, and outreach services.

This afternoon, from 11:15 to 1:30 p.m., the kitchens will be serving approximately 800 people with a traditional Thanksgiving meal.

The menu features turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, mixed vegetables, mashed potatoes, and a dessert of marble cake with chocolate sauce.

The serving booths will be manned by approximately 40 volunteers from city councils throughout the region, most notably Victoria Mayor Lisa Helps, Esquimalt Mayor Barb Desjardins, View Royal Mayor David Screech, the Deputy Police Chief, and other officers from the Victoria Police Department.
