Victoria man faces over 50 charges for stolen items seized during search

A Victoria man is facing over 50 recommended charges after police executed a search warrant in a “downtown multi-residential facility” last week.

Around 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, officers investigated a unit in a downtown apartment building on the 800-block of Johnson St, the same block of a single low-barrier housing facility.

When police arrived, they found the door to the suspect’s suite open, and arrested the him without incident while searching the unit.

Inside, officers found hundreds of items that are likely stolen, as well as drugs that suggest the suspect was involved in drug dealing.

Among the stolen items were $25,000 in cash, dozens of pieces of personal identification, 6 grams of marijuana, 7 grams of methamphetamine, over 10 grams of cocaine, and over 20 grams of heroin.

While some of the stolen items have been linked to objects that were reported stolen from cars in Victoria and Saanich, Police have released a series of images on Facebook to help identify the remainder of the seized items.

The investigation began after a sharp-eyed member of the community noticed the suspect trying to open car door handles in the area, and reported the suspicious behavior.
