Shaw Internet customers in Western Canada are in for a treat this December.
According to a press release, the telecommunications company is doubling internet download speeds for all new and existing customers during the first few weeks of December.
Those who currently receive 150 mbps download will be bumped up to 300 mbps, and people who pay for 300 mbps download will enjoy Shaw’s high speed 600 mbps download, at no additional cost.
“This isn’t a promotion or a one-time offer. This is an unprecedented upgrade to our best internet plans, giving customers even faster speeds to help them use more powerful in-home technology and lead a more connected life,” said Brad Shaw, Chief Executive Officer, Shaw Communications.
“We strive to give our customers more value and we know that having faster download speeds is vital. We’re doubling the speeds of our fastest offerings. No tricks, no gimmicks, just more speed. It’s that simple.”
On Shaw’s website, the Internet 300 and 150 plans are both available on a two-year plan for $55 and $50 respectively for the first six months.
For the remaining 18 months, the price for the 300 is $105/month and the 150 is $95/month.
Competing plans from Telus show similar prices, with faster upload speeds of up to 300 mbps (compared to Shaw’s 20 mbps), and no two-year contract commitments.
