Share

Officers are asking for the public’s assistance after a poppy box was stolen early this morning.

At 3:20 a.m., officers were called to a business in the 2600-block of Blanshard St. after receiving reports of a man cutting a security cord and stealing a poppy donation box, which are used to honour those who served and raise funds for veterans and their families.

During the incident, the suspect was confronted by another customer, at which point he produced a weapon and threatened to harm the customer. He then took the poppy donation box and fled.

Police describe the suspect as a Caucasian man in his 20s, standing 5’ 8” with a medium build. At the time he was wearing either a dark baseball cap or hood, baggy cargo pants with pockets on the side, and was carrying a black backpack.

Anyone with information is asked to call Victoria Police at 250-995-7654 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. The investigation is ongoing.
