This week is proving to be storm-heavy for Vancouver Island, as Environment Canada warns residents about an incoming gale this afternoon.
According to the agency, a frontal wave moving across the island will bring with it strong southwest winds up to 80 km/h over exposed coastal sections of West Vancouver Island.
Meanwhile, East Vancouver Island is set to experience heavy rainfall amounts of up to 50 millimetres between Qualicum Beach and Fanny Bay tonight.
As the frontal wave exits the region tonight, the winds will ease up and the heavy rains will turn into light showers overnight.
Residents in the area are advised to be wary of damage to buildings, loose objects blown around by the wind, flash floods, and water pooling on roads.
