A motor home fire in Cobble Hill has claimed the life of one man on Thursday night, according to Shawnigan Lake RCMP.
The fatal structure fire erupted at approximately 10:30 p.m., and by the time emergency services arrived, the trailer was fully engulfed in flames.
Tragically, the resident was still inside at the time.
The RCMP Forensic Identification Section and the RCMP Island District General Investigation Section are investigating the cause of the fire, as well as a fire investigator and the BC Coroners service.
Police do not suspect any foul play at this time.
The motorhome fire occured the same night that BC experienced a severe windstorm, knocking power out to more than 100,000 people on the island.
Cobble Hill was one of the areas affected by the power outages, though it is undetermined if the storm had any connection to the fire.
The name of the victim has not been released.
