Nanaimo RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance in locating 81-year-old Rolf Oehme.

Oehme has not been seen or heard from since he left his central Nanaimo home on or around November 27th.

He missed several planned home visits from the Nanaimo Seniors Outreach Team (including one scheduled for the 27th) and given that he had just been released from an extended hospital stay, his support workers are extremely worried about his well being.

According to an RCMP press release, Oehme had attempted to buy a plane ticket to Europe before the 27th, but was declined due to his various medical conditions.

Officers are now following up on the lead that he may have been able to leave Vancouver Island via public transportation.

Description

Oehme is described as a white male and has a strong German accent. He stands 5′ 11″ tall, weighs 150 lbs, has white hair, and wears glasses. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, track pants with white stripes on the sides and white runners.

He may also be pulling or carrying a small black travel bag. Oehme does not drive, has no immediate family living on the island, and is known to wear the same clothes for extended periods of time.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts of is asked to call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at www.nanaimocrimestoppers.com or call 1-800-222-8477.
