Police searching for suspect in unprovoked assault at bus stop near Uptown

Saanich police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an unprovoked assault near Uptown shopping centre on Sunday.

At about 6 p.m. on Sunday night, the male victim was waiting for a northbound route 50 bus on Douglas Street near Uptown Centre when a male suspect appeared and struck him.

The suspect then boarded a busy BC Transit bus before fleeing the scene.

Police say that the victim was transported to hospital for non-threatening injuries, and was later released.

“Investigators believe there were several other witnesses to the assault and are
asking anyone who may have seen the attacker to come forward,” said Saanich police in a news release.
