VicPD investigating two sexual assaults that may be connected

Victoria police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect(s) in two recent sexual assaults.

In a news release issued Thursday, VicPD said “officers are continuing their investigation into two sexual assaults that may be connected.”

The first incident took place on the evening of Dec. 4th, when a woman was getting off of a bus near Burnside Road and Carrol Street. When exiting the bus, police say “an unknown man ran up behind her, slapped her buttocks and fled”.

The suspect is described as a caucasian male, standing 5’ 6” with a slim build. At the time he was wearing a brown, red, and beige knitted cap with stripes, a dark top, and dark pants.

The second incident took place on the evening of Dec. 13th, when officers were called to the Galloping Goose trail area near Gorge Road East. There, a woman reported that a man had come up to her and grabbed her. The victim yelled at the man who then ran away.

The suspect is described as a male standing 5’ 4” with a slim build. At the time he was wearing a black hoody with the hood pulled up.
