Woman scares off sexual assault suspect near Rudd Park in Saanich

Police are looking for a man who sexually assaulted a woman near a Saanich park early Saturday.

According to a release from Saanich Police, the attack happened on Saturday, December 15, around 1:00 am, near Rudd Park.

Police say the woman was accosted by an unknown man and she was able to scare him off.

The suspect was described as a male, approximately 5’8 in height and riding a black bike.

The Saanich Police Department is urging the public to be aware of their surroundings and to stay safe.

Around the same time Saturday, VicPD were also dealing with a similar situation in Esquimalt.

In that incident, an unknown man enter a suite in the 800-block of Ellery Street.

Armed with a weapon, the suspect sexually assaulted a woman living in the apartment before she was able to escape and call police.

No suspect has been arrested in that case.
