Woman sexually assaulted by armed stranger in Esquimalt home

Detectives from the Victoria Police department are warning the public after a woman was sexually assaulted in her home early Saturday. 

According to police, the incident occurred around 1:00 a.m. Saturday morning, when the woman alleged that an unknown man entered her apartment in the 800-block of Ellery Street. 

Police said the man was armed with a weapon, and sexually assaulted the woman.

She was able to escape the suite and reported the incident to the RCMP who then advised VicPD. 

The woman was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

No suspect description was released. 

“Multiple officers are working on the investigation which is in the early stages,” police said in a release. “Officers are asking people to be vigilant while we continue our investigation and more information becomes available.”
