Frito-Lay delivery truck erupts into flames Monday morning

The driver of a Frito-Lay delivery vehicle is unharmed after his semi-truck erupted into flames on the Millstream Overpass in Langford early Monday morning.

Langford fire received the call for the fire around 6:15 a.m., and arrived at the scene to find the trailer compartment completely ablaze.

Officials say that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

“The vehicle was towed away to a safe location,” said Langford Fire Assistant Chief Lance Caven.

During the incident, southbound lanes on the bridge were closed but have since been reopened.

Lance says it was fortunate that the delivery truck was coming into Langford, and not out towards Victoria.

“We did shut down a couple of lanes on the bridge to put the fire out.”

“I don’t think it slowed traffic down too much, traffic seemed to be flowing smoothly.”

Frito-Lay is a snack company that owns chip brands like Doritos, Cheetos, Sunchips, Fritos, and Lays.
