A GoFundMe campaign has been created for the family of an 8-year-old Nanaimo boy, Linden Baglo, who was struck by a truck on Sunday and tragically passed away.

Nanaimo RCMP say that Linden was bicycling out of a residential driveway with his older sister when he collided with a pickup truck. He was then taken to hospital with serious injuries where he passed away.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Alcohol, speed, and drugs are not believed to be contributing factors.

“This loving adorable funny little boy bringing joy and smiles to everyone’s life that he touched was tragically taken from us on January 6, 2019 at the age of 8 while riding his bike with his best friend Shelby (his sister) on their street,” reads the GoFundMe campaign.

“Linden was a charismatic sweet boy who loved to tell stories and gave the best arm massages to all that would listen and let him!”

The GoFundMe project has raised $27,255 as of Tuesday afternoon, nearly tripling the campaigns initial goal of $10,000.

Donations from the campaign will go towards the family’s funeral costs.

“The family is overwhelmed by the outpouring of support and again wants to thank everyone for reaching out and sharing their love and support,” reads a campaign update.

“At this time they need time to grieve and of course make the heartbreaking preparations to come.”

“Thanks again for all the support and shares to help this family at such a terrible time.”
