Here are Canada’s top 10 favourite dog breeds of 2018

We know what you’re thinking: it doesn’t matter what any list says. Your favourite dog breed is whatever breed your fur babies are – heck, you might not care about their breed at all!

However every year, the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) comes out with a list of the top 10 most popular dog breeds in the country based on the type of pups most commonly procured by Canadians.

This year’s list features the newly added Portuguese Water Dog, while saying goodbye to the Bulldog that occupied its #10 position last year.

Yet no one can compete with the Labrador Retriever. This trusty compatriot has been Canada’s top choice of dog breed since 1995, followed by the German Shepherd in the #2 spot, the Golden Retriever in 3rd, and the Poodle in 4th.

“Dog’s are an integral part of our families and our lives,” says Lance Novak, Executive Director, Canadian Kennel Club. “From choosing a breed to raising your dog, the Canadian Kennel Club is here to help every step of the way.”
