Mudslide closes Sooke Hills Wilderness Trail

Share

Recent rains have triggered a mudslide on the Sooke Hills Wilderness Trail, according to the CRD.

In an announcement made today, the CRD says that the southern section of the trail, from the Humpback Reservoir to the suspension bridge across the Goldstream River has been closed.

Meanwhile, the northern of the section, from Goldstream River to Goldstream Heights, remains open at this time.

Thursday’s rainfall broke records in Greater Victoria, bringing 48.2 mm of precipitation to the region.

Sooke is considered the most western area of Greater Victoria. However, just west of the border in West Vancouver Island, Environment Canada predicted at least 100 to 150 mm of rain.

For updates, you can stay tuned to the CRD website or their Twitter account.
