An Oak Bay home that was the site of a break-in and attack in April 2017 has just been listed for sale by luxury realtors, The Agency.

The oceanfront property at 2590 Esplanade is currently a pocket listing, which means details about the property have not been advertised online or elsewhere.

However, Victoria Buzz spoke to Jason Binab from The Agency, who confirmed that the 11,318 sq. ft home will be officially ready for listing in February 2019, once landscaping and staging has been completed.

The multilevel 3-bedroom, 4-bathroom home was built in 1990.

Here’s what else we know about it

On April 25th, 2017, a male intruder randomly broke into 2590 Esplanade and attacked a 45-year-old woman with a machete.

The victim is one of the daughters of the owner, and sustained serious upper body injuries from the attack.

According to Oak Bay police Deputy Chief Ray Bernoties, the file is still under investigation and the suspect remains at large.

At the time of the attack, police were searching for a heavy-set man in his mid-20s, wearing a brown jacket, dark pants, a baseball cap, and a blue and white handkerchief around his neck.

Oak Bay Police were assisted by officers from VicPD and Saanich Police and they scoured the area for the attacker, but nobody was found. Willows Elementary and Glenlyon Norfolk school were also locked-down during the search.

According to Binab, the sale of “machete house” has nothing to do with the unfortunate incident in 2017.
