Police investigating discovery of deceased female at a Saanich park

Share

An area of Rutledge Park in Saanich has been partitioned off with police tape following what witnesses describe as a medical emergency that resulted in a death.

At approximately 8:30 a.m. Monday morning, construction workers near Glasgow Avenue and Rutledge Park told Victoria Buzz that they saw a police officer attempting to administer first aid.

They say that an officer ran over to an individual who was on that ground and tried to use a defibrillator to resuscitate them, but were unsuccessful.

Saanich police later told Victoria Buzz that a deceased female was discovered there this morning, and that an investigation has been started by members of the detective division and forensic identification section.

“The park is secured so we are asking folks to stay away as the investigation is underway,” Sgt. Julie Fast told Victoria Buzz.

The woman has not been identified at this time, and the cause of death has not yet been determined.
