A “serious” two vehicle head on collision has closed both directions of the Trans Canada Highway Tuesday afternoon.
The incident took place just before 12:45 p.m., on Highway 1 at an undivided curve between Leigh Road and West Shore Parkway.
The crash involved a blue Honda Pilot and silver Honda CRV. The drivers of both vehicles were the lone occupants and have been transported to hospital with serious injuries.
Investigators are on scene attempting to determine the cause of the collision. Highway 1 will remain closed near Leigh Road in both directions while the investigation is completed.
Motorists are being diverted through West Shore Parkway to Langford Parkway both north and southbound.
“The cause of the collision is under investigation. We are asking for any witnesses of this collision to contact investigators,” says Cpl. Chris Dovell of the West Shore RCMP.

According to DriveBC, drivers should expect “heavy delays” as the assessment is still in progress.
DriveBC says an update on road conditions should be published at 2 p.m.
