VicPD seek witnesses in downtown assault involving man in wheelchair

A wheelchair-bound man suffered non-life threatening injuries during an assault that took place in downtown Victoria on Sunday.

Victoria Police are searching for anyone who may have witnessed an altercation that occurred after a man took offence to the victim’s electric wheelchair making contact with him.

The victim allegedly bumped into the man’s foot with his wheelchair, resulting in the man having a violent outburst and pushing the wheelchair-bound man to the ground.

The encounter left the victim with a broken femur.

Officers are looking for anyone who was in the area of Douglas and Yates St between 1:45 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. on Sunday, January 13th who may have witnessed the attack or have any information that could help police identify the suspect.
