UPDATE: As of Saturday morning, RCMP have confirmed that the woman has succumbed to her injuries.
Earlier: A woman was struck by a vehicle while crossing the road, and has been taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries.
The incident occurred at around 6:30 p.m. on Friday evening on the Old Island Highway in front of Juan de Fuca Recreation Centre.
At the time, traffic was reduced to one lane in both directions.
The incident is currently under investigation and RCMP are asking for witnesses to contact them at 250-474-2264.
