Be a Tourist in Your Own Hometown is back for its latest event, and their list of free offers is seriously impressive.

If you’ve been hesitant before, now is the time to check out all that they have to offer – from free wine-tasting to free admission to some of the most popular tourist hot-spots our city has, there’s something in this list for everyone!

Without further ado, here are the 15 free Be a Tourist in Your Own Hometown activities you need to take advantage of:

1. Free tours at the Friends of the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory

The observatory will offer guided tours of the location, self guided tours of the gallery, and Planetarium shows – plus discount at the gift shop of 10%. This offer is available Saturday February 23rd & Saturday March 2nd only. Tours will run every hour from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., and in the planetarium every 30 minutes, but people will be welcome to be in the gallery at any time. Limited capacity of 250 people at a time. Weather permitting.

2. Free admission to Ashton Armoury Museum

A Service Battalion Regimental Museum, located in the LGen E.C. Ashton Armoury, the museum honours the history and heritage of co-located Signal, Medical, Logistics and Military Police Units. The Ashton Armoury Museum will be open Sunday, February 24th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday, March 2nd from 9 a.m. to noon, only.

3. Free wine tasting at Deep Cove Winery

Head over to Deep Cove Winery and see their tastefully renovated and modern tasting room and learn what beautiful wines are created in beautiful BC! Come and sample a flight of four wines on them. This offer is available February 23 and 24 and March 2nd and 3rd, and is available to Be A Tourist 2019 pass holders.

4. Free coffee or tea at Urban Bee Honey Farm

Stop by Urban Bee Honey Farm and enjoy a coffee or local tea on them! Discover why not all honeys are created equal, and taste your way around the peninsula at their honey bar. Check out all the local artisan gifts made from products in the hive. This offer is available during all Be a Tourist dates.

5. Free 16oz cup of tea at Silk Road

Pop in to Silk Road and snag your free 16oz cup of tea, and you can also get 25% off select teas, skin & body care while quantities last. Offer valid at Victoria Chinatown location only. This offer is available during all Be a Tourist dates.

6. Free admission to Wentworth Villa Heritage Museum

You can get free admission to the museum during regular business hours, during the dates of February 22nd and 23rd, as well as March 1st and March 2nd.

7. Free admission to Sidney Museum’s LEGO Exhibit

Come and see the very large steam locomotive built out of Lego bricks, as well as the hundreds of Lego models from your favourite space models to pirates and castles. Try the museum scavenger hunt and guess the number of bricks in a giant pyramid for a chance to win Lego kits. This offer is available during all Be a Tourist dates.

8. Free Short Flight at Sea Cider

Visit Sea Cider Farm & Ciderhouse and enjoy a complimentary sample of their three best selling ciders! Enjoy panoramic views of the lush orchard, and ocean views of the Haro strait. Must be 19+. This offer is available during all Be a Tourist dates.

9. Free tours of the Legislative Assembly of BC

Free guided tours are available throughout the year but only on weekdays from Labour Day to Victoria Day long weekend, but they will exceptionally be open for tours on Saturday, February 23 from 10a.m. to 2p.m. and Saturday, March 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

10. Free admission to the Butchart Gardens 

For two days only, Saturday, March 2 and Sunday, March 3 – Complimentary Admission with valid Be a Tourist Card. One visit per person and for admission only. Children under 5 are free.

11. Miniature World free admission

Stop by for one free admission on either Saturday, February 23 or Sunday, February 24th only. Event card & I.D. required. Accompanying children 4 years and under are free. Maximum of 2 children per adult.

12. Free cotton candy at Sweet Delights

Sweet Delights Victoria is a wonderful world of delicious candy and other treats located in the heart of beautiful District of Oak Bay in Greater Victoria. One free tub of cotton candy available for each cardholder. This offer is available during all Be a Tourist dates.

13. Free admission to Fort Rodd Hill

Listen to Parks Canada staff and volunteer military re-enactors sharing with you fascinating stories of Victoria and Canada’s military past. You can also step inside the oldest lighthouse on the west coast of Canada that’s still in operation today! Available February 22, 23 and 24.

14. Free admission to Victoria Butterfly Gardens

With your complimentary admission you can witness thousands of tropical butterflies (up to 70 species) fly through their large facility. You can also enjoy their newest exhibit, the Insectarium and experience impressive insects & invertebrates from around the world. March 1, 2 and 3 only.

15. Free historical tours at Market Square

Hear all about Market Square’s colourful past from the early settler days of Victoria on this interesting walkabout! Tours depart from the main gate archway at 560 Johnson Street at 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. daily. Tours last approximately 45 minutes. This offer is available during all Be a Tourist dates.
