These are the top 10 most dangerous intersections on Vancouver Island

While drivers should always be focused when on the road, residents may want to pay particular attention to specific intersections across the island.

According to ICBC, the most dangerous intersection on the island is at McKenzie Avenue and the Trans-Canada Highway, where 111 crashes occurred in 2017.

The next intersection with the highest collision rate is also located in Saanich at the corner of Blanshard Street and Saanich Road, where 80 collisions were recorded.

Victoria’s most dangerous intersection is tied for 4th most dangerous on the island and is located downtown at Blanshard Street and Bay Street. In total, 69 collisions took place there, the same as the most dangerous areas in Langford.

In total, roughly 13,000 motor vehicle incidents occurred on Vancouver Island in 2017, resulting in 7,100 injuries and 6 fatalities.

The incidents do not include crashes that involved parked vehicles or occurred in parking lots.
