Vehicle collides into gas station in Victoria after driver suffers medical event

Share

One man has been taken to the hospital after driving into a gas station on Thursday evening.

According to VicPD, the man drove into a gas pump at a gas station at the corner of Fairfield Road and St. Charles Street just after 6 p.m. last night.

Initial reports show that the accident occurred because he was suffering a medical event while driving.

A passenger in the vehicle was able to slow it down by activating the emergency brake, but couldn’t bring the car to a complete halt.

Thankfully, the collision did not lead to a fire thanks to gas station staff, safety measures in place at the pump, and the quick response by the Victoria Fire Department, BC Emergency Health Services Paramedics and officers.

The man who suffered injuries was taken to the hospital before officers showed up at the scene.
