Walmart Supercentre to take over previous Sears location at Hillside, says report

Share

About a year and a half after Sears shuttered their store at Hillside Shopping Centre, the  149,000 square foot, two-floor space remains empty – but not for much longer.

According to a report by Citified Victoria, Walmart Canada will be taking over the location by the end of 2019.

This will be the third Walmart Supercentre in Greater Victoria, joining the other two stores at Uptown Shopping Centre in Saanich and on Phipps Road in Langford.

Once complete, the new superstore will be 67,000 sq ft smaller than the Walmart at Uptown and 34,000 sq ft larger than its Langford counterpart.

Sources at Hillside told Victoria Buzz that the Shopping Centre can neither confirm nor deny plans to open Walmart at the prior Sears location.
