You can walk through a veritable “Window Wanderland” in James Bay this weekend

For the second year running, the James Bay Community Centre and James Bay New Horizons is hosting their Window Wanderland community event.

With the help of an online downloadable map (or old school physical maps), people looking to have a beautiful evening stroll can walk through James Bay and see over 100 participating homes with lit up and decorated windows.

“February in Victoria can be dreary and we all need a little more light to brighten our spirits at this time of year,” reads the Wanderland description.

“The event is a great way to engage with your neighbors, or get the entire family working on a project together.”

Bundle up and bring a hot drink as you take in the creative art that the community has put together for everyone to enjoy.

“We would encourage people to walk and not drive for this event,” said Darcy Topinka, community school coordinator. “The point is to get people out walking together in the community after dinner.”

If you plan on walking through the neighbourhood, remember to wear something bright to help keep yourself visible and participate in the Window Wanderland event. Viewers are just as important as decorators!

“We’ve taken a slightly different spin this year, we’re trying to encourage people to brighten up their clothing or brighten yourself up if you’re walking,” said Topinka. “We want this to be safe event and we want to be visible.”

Window Wanderland starts today and will run through the weekend. Official event times are between 6:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., but decorations will be up until Sunday.
