A hydro pole on Cloverdale Avenue was accidently dragged down to the street, temporarily blocking traffic on both lanes Friday morning.
At approximately 9 a.m., a high clearance truck caught wires that hung across the road in the 1000 block of Cloverdale Avenue, pulling down the pole and causing live wires to fall onto the street.
“The driver kept driving for a few blocks, maybe he didn’t realize what had happened, before stopping,” said BC Hydro spokesperson Tanya Fish.
No one was injured in the incident, but 18 people in the area are without power.
BC Hydro, Saanich Fire, and an engineering contract crew are on scene making repairs. Sources in the area say that the road has reopened to traffic.
Power is expected to be restored in a few hours.
