Hello, last weekend of April!

From board games, to bowling, to a first-of-its-kind soccer game, there are plenty of fun-filled activities to keep you occupied on this final weekend of the month.

Without further ado, here are 12 things to do in and around Victoria this weekend!

Saturday

Buzz on location: Experience Sidney by the sea with us!

Is there anything more beautiful than Sidney in the springtime?

Join the Victoria Buzz crew on location with the Sidney BIA as we showcase some of the sweet seaside community’s best businesses – we will even be giving away a TON of fabulous prizes!

  • When: Saturday, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Where: 2493 Beacon Avenue

2 vs. 2 Dodgeball Tournament

Don’t miss your chance to take part in this indoor 2 vs. 2 tournament dodgeball tournament! The games are perfect for new folks interested in their first tournament, or for more experienced players that need to get some practice in before the glorious sunburns and grass stains of Island Summer Games. Put on your best costumes and join us!

Teams will be divided into similar skill levels and there will be plenty of prizes, including one for best costume! Up to three people are allowed on a team (if you would like a sub). Don’t forget to register!

The Singles Board Game Night

Head down to Interactivity Board Game Café for a night of board games, fun, snacks, and connections!

Hosted by Fresh Connections, this event is for all singles who are looking to make local connections, whether for friendship, dating, or more! Forget the pressure of one-on-one dates, messaging, and dating apps and have a more relaxed night of fun.

  • When: Saturday, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  • Where: Interactivity Board Game Café, 723 Yates Street

Bowl for Kids’ Sake 2019

Head down to Langford Lanes for a night of fundraising, prizes, pizza, and a silent auction!

All proceeds go towards Big Brothers Big Sisters of Victoria. Teams can be between 4 to 8 people, and there is no registration fee but each bowler must raise at least $100. Bowlers are also encouraged to dress up, with prizes being awarded to the group with the best team spirit!

  • When: Saturday, 5:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.
  • Where: Langford Lanes, 1097 Langford Parkway

Astronomy Day

Visit the Royal BC Museum where the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada will be hosting celebrations for International Astronomy Day – you can join them and explore the mysteries of the universe!

You’ll be able to use solar telescopes to view the sun safely at this event, and there will also be a telescope-making workshop and an astro-photography display showing you how to take photos of the night sky with personal cameras.

  • When: Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Where: Royal BC Museum, 675 Belleville Street

Dreams Come True

Join Lena Palermo and the Peninsula Singers show chorus for a family friendly night of classic Disney music!

Listen to 90 years of Disney music in 90 minutes from the classics, like Pinocchio, to the contemporary, like Frozen. If you can’t make it Saturday, don’t worry! The Peninsula Singers will be performing Sunday as well.

  • When: Saturday, 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday, 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

30th annual TC 10K

The 30th annual TC10K is happening this Sunday morning! You can join 8,000+ walkers and runners on this beautiful and scenic race, cheer on your favourite runners or catch the action live online through our first ever livestream of the event.

This incredible race is a celebration of our beautiful west coast and the city of Victoria, and has been a staple of the city for 30 years now.

  • When: Race begins Sunday, 8:00 a.m. – Live stream, 7:55 a.m.

Buzz on location: Come watch PFC’s home-opener with us!

Join the Victoria Buzz crew and be a part of Pacific FC’s inaugural soccer game!

Watch as Victoria takes on the Halifax Wanderers say hi to the Victoria Buzz crew to chat all things PFC and even enter to win some sweet prizes!

Wildflower Wanderings

Swan Lake has never looked better now that Spring has sprung! Swan Lake Nature House is celebrating the wonderful world of wildflowers with guided tours of their native plant garden, a hike up Christmas Hill, crafts and games for the kids, and native plants for sale.

Admission is by donation, and you can drop-in between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. Wear sturdy hiking shoes and bring water if you would like to join them!

Studio Dance Highlights Concert

Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival is excited to host the Studio Dance Highlights Concert at Dave Dunnet Community Theatre!

Join them for a night of fantastic dance as studios from around Victoria take the stage in the art of performance.

Sin City Improv Castaways (part 2)

This show is a completely improvised, unplanned, and unscripted continuing tale that promises to have you laughing! Join the crew on a hilarious journey as “Lost” meets “Survivor” with a hint of “Gilligan’s Island.”

Starring Kirsten Van Ritzen, Morgan Cranny, Robert Conway, Christine Upright, Alan Penty, Charlie de Pape, Bill Nance, Jim Leard, Colleen Blunt, Gene Sargent and guests. Directed live by Ian Ferguson. Music by Patrick Boyle.

Folk ‘N Fiddle Festival Fundraiser

The Victoria Folk Music Society is hosting a fundraiser concert for the first annual Folk ‘N Fiddle Festival!

The evening will feature acts from Daniel Cook, Victoria School of Irish Dance, Coastline, Eden Oliver (West My Friend) and Daniel Lapp.

Tickets are $7.00 at the door. Youth 16 and under are free.
