5 things to do in and around Victoria today, Tuesday, April 30th

Share

Ready for a whole week of sunshine?

Besides remembering to file your taxes on time, here are 5 things you can do to round out the month of April with a bang in Victoria:

Bottles for Beaches

On the last day of Earth month, bring all of your refundable beverage containers to the Bottle Depot and the full refund will be donated to Surfrider! Let’s do our part to keep these containers off our beaches and out of the ocean.

  • When: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
  • Where: Any Bottle Depot near you

Tasting Room 1 year Anniversary Party

Join Phillips Brewing & Malting Co. for their 1 year anniversary party on Tuesday night! They’ve got some extra special doughnuts courtesy of Yonni’s Doughnuts for the first 100 people. The resident 100% vinyl DJs Crates of Wrath (Bill Stuart & Dan Reid) will be curating a “community vinyl playlist” too so if you’ve got a record you want to add to the mix bring it on down with your name on it.

  • When: 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Where: Phillips Brewing & Malting Co., 2010 Government St

VicPD Strategic Planning Session

Members of the Board and the Senior Management Team will sit down with community members in this planning session to assess what’s working and to capitalize on new opportunities.

“On behalf of VicPD, I am personally inviting you to join us for these planning sessions,” said Chief Del Manak. “The community’s role is vital in helping us gather feedback so we can meet the public safety demands of today while planning for the future.”

  • When: 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.
  • Where: Victoria City Hall Council Chambers, 1 Centennial Square

Public Knitting Night

All are welcome whether you knit , crochet, quilt, weave etc. It may be tricky to fit a floor loom in the shop though, but your efforts will be applauded! They’ve also got a selection of yarns graciously donated to the shop by customers, if you are finding fibre arts costs prohibitive.

  • When: 7 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
  • Where: Hide + Seek Coffee, 2207 Oak Bay Ave

Swing Jazz Tuesdays

Reminisce 1928 with a night of live swing jazz, classic cocktails, and swing dancing. They’ve got two great bands alternating every Tuesday night: The Capital City Syncopators and The Flying Saucers.

  • When: 8 p.m. – 11 p.m.
  • Where: Victoria Event Centre, 1415 Broad St
