One of Canada’s most iconic 90’s folk/rock bands is coming to Vancouver Island this summer!
The Crash Test Dummies, of “Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm” and “Superman’s Song” fame, will be performing at two different venues in August as part of their “God Shuffled His Feet” 25th Anniversary Tour.
The popular Canadian band won the Juno award for Best Group of the Year in 1992, and has been nominated for ten different Juno awards and three Grammys over the course of their career.
This anniversary tour marks the Dummies’ first full tour in almost a decade. According to the event description, the Crash Test Dummies decided that they would stop touring in 2011.
“Everyone was ready to move on in their lives–you know, family, other interests. And I didn’t feel I had anything else to say,” said Brad Roberts, vocalist and guitarist in a release.
“I wanted to write albums, but people had stopped listening to albums. Instead, everything was streaming. People only wanted to listen to one song, and then move on to the next band. I lost interest.”
However, recent inspiration has sent Roberts penning new songs and lyrics again, and now the band members have agreed to tour the country once more.
“I sat down one night after having written nothing in literally years, and out came a verse–of sorts,” Roberts said in the same release.
“I was rusty! But I stuck with it for a few more days, until I managed to make it say what I wanted to say.”
