The trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog movie filmed on Vancouver Island has been released

You probably haven’t actually seen a little blue animated hedgehog running around the island, but that’s only because he’s too quick to spot!

Every millennial, 90’s kid, and their parents remembers the old Sonic the Hedgehog games franchise in which a blue hedgehog with supersonic speed must save the world.

This November, Sonic the Hedgehog live-action movie is coming to theatres near you…but the anthropomorphic speedster isn’t the only thing you’ll recognize.

Parts of the movie were filmed on Vancouver Island in September 2018, shutting down a section of Highway 19 near Bowser for several days.

The $90-million movie also featured parts of Ladysmith – dubbed “Green Hills” – as the main hub for its characters.

Starring Jim Carrey and James Marsden, Sonic follows the story of a cop from a rural town who helps Sonic escape from the government who is trying to capture him.
