Victoria’s cruise ship season has officially begun!
The first massive cruise ship, the Celebrity Eclipse, docked at Ogden Point on Tuesday morning and was the first of over 260 that are scheduled to visit the city this year.
The vessel arrived for its brief stay from Seattle around 8 a.m., with an occupancy up to 2,850 people and departed for Vancouver at 5 p.m.

Between now and October, an estimated one million people (700,000 passengers and 300,000 crew) are expected to make their way to Victoria, with the city’s 8 millionth cruise ship passenger expected to arrive in May.
The Greater Victoria Harbour Authority (GVHA) predicts that the hundreds of thousands of visitors will contribute over $130 million to the local economy.
