21-year-old woman fends off potential attacker on Vancouver Island

Comox Valley RCMP are searching for a man who accosted a woman at a park in Courtenay.

On Thursday morning at around 7:45 a.m., a woman was walking through Bill Moore Park in the 2300-block of Kilpatrick Avenue when a man approached her from behind and grabbed her arm.

She then turned around and kicked the man, who fell to the ground, before fleeing.

Police are now looking for the man who is described as Caucasian, stands approximately 5’9″, has a thin build, and is around 40-years-old.

He was disheveled in appearance, has curly hair that is either brown or grey, and possibly longer at the back.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing a faded red running jacket with a horizontal reflective stripe on the back and black jeans that were ripped at the knees.
