5 road trip-worthy music festivals to attend off Vancouver Island this summer

If you’re a music fan looking for some awesome nearby festivals to attend this summer, you’re in luck – there’s plenty to see!

Fans of almost every genre should get ready to pack their bags and fire up their vehicles for road trips over to Vancouver, Edmonton, Seattle, and more.

Punk fans and craft beer lovers should head over to Vancouver this July for the Punk in Drublic Festival; pop music listeners can visit Seattle’s 40-year-old Bumbershoot Festival; and heavy metal fans have a chance to listen to icons at Edmonton’s inaugural Chaos AB festival.

Without further ado, here are 5 road trip worthy festivals to attend this summer:

1. Punk In Drublic Craft Beer & Music Festival | Vancouver, BC

You won’t have to travel far for this popular and independent music festival! Craft beer and punk rock are coming together in Vancouver for one headbanging day.

The festival takes place at the PNE and headliners include NOFX, Bad Religion, The Real McKenzies, Anti-Flag, Chixdiggit, and The Last Gang. A variety of provincial breweries will also be featured, including Vancouver Island’s Phillips Brewing & Malting Co., Strathcona, Vancouver Island Brewery, and more.

2. Pain in the Grass 2019 | Auburn, Washington

Heavy Metal fans won’t want to miss this year’s massive Pain in the Grass festival!

Get ready to road trip south of the border to catch the festival’s infamous headliners, including Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, Slipknot, Disturbed, and more.

3. Cannafest | Grand Forks, BC

Western Canada’s largest classic rock festival returns!

Take a scenic road trip across the province to Grand Forks for a multi-day festival featuring headliners Brett Michaels from Poison and Motley Crue’s Vince Neil.

4. Chaos AB | Edmonton, Alberta

5. Bumbershoot Festival | Seattle, Washington

Now in its 4th decade, one of Seattle’s largest music, art, and spoken word festivals is returning for an entire weekend this summer!

While an exact line-up has not been released yet, the international music and arts festival always goes big with its headliners, art displays, grounds, and more.
