A Langford resident was arrested for choosing a new unit at a construction site as the perfect place for a good night’s rest.

On Monday, May 6th at approximately 11 p.m., a security guard working at a construction site in the area near Constellation Ave and Meridian Ave witnessed a man inside one of the new units.

When the guard approached the man and asked him to leave, he became belligerent, which led the guard to call police.

According to West Shore RCMP, the suspect told officers that he had been drinking and arguing with people at home which is why he needed a new place to sleep.

“Our officers attended along with the K-9 unit and located an intoxicated man sleeping inside one of the units,” says Cst. Nancy Saggar.

“He was arrested for Break and Enter and once sober, was released with a court date.”

RCMP ask that anyone who witnesses people trespassing through construction sites should call 911 immediately, and if you have information on thefts from these sites call police or report anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
