Police searching for man who stole woman’s purse in Saanich

Saanich Police are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the suspect in an early morning robbery on Thursday.

At approximately 2:00 a.m., officers were called to Rudd Park after a woman reported being robbed in the area.

The 23-year-old woman told police that she was walking through the park, located at 3340 Whittier Avenue, when an unknown man grabbed her purse and fled down Burnside Road West.

A Saanich Police K9 team attended the scene and was able to track down the purse a short distance away with some of its contents still inside.

However, the woman’s wallets had been taken.

Police are hoping that the community can help identify the suspect, who is described as a man who was wearing dark clothing and a hat at the time of the incident.
