UPDATE: Quadra Street is now open one lane in each direction while crews work to repair the hydro pole and power lines.
They are expected to be working for approximately 2-3 hours, and flaggers have been stationed to help traffic flow.
Earlier: A single-vehicle crash has closed Quadra Street in both directions between Tuxedo Drive and Ambassador Avenue.
The crash occurred at around 3:15 a.m. in the 4100-block of Quadra Street.
The vehicle struck a hydro pole knocking out power to over 2,800 B.C. Hydro customers in the area.
According to Saanich Police, the driver was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the vehicle reportedly fell asleep at the wheel.
B.C. Hydro estimates power in the area will be restored around 10 a.m.
Police are asking motorists to avoid the area and expect the road to be closed for several hours.
