This authentic eatery in Esquimalt is dishing up unreal Indian cuisine

Victoria’s newest Indian eatery, Spice Valley Indian Cuisine, quietly opened their doors last December after a two month renovation.

While word has been getting around about how amazing they are, you may not have heard of them yet.

After their experience with cooking around the globe, Prahlad, along with his wife Kamlesh and best friend Gajendra, are offering some fantastic Indian cuisine at their new Victoria restaurant.

Tucked away in Esquimalt, Spice Valley serves traditional Indian cuisine but its owners have also managed to incorporate their own personal touch to each dish.

For example, if you normally find butter chicken too sweet, you’ll be happy to note that they’ve toned that sweetness down; or if you fancy thinner naan, they have you covered.

Their original goal, that they have since more than delivered on, was to have a small restaurant where things are kept simple and dialled in with extreme consistency.

Be warned that in staying true to fresh, small batch production, they can sometimes sell out of items which is one thing that we, the VicFoodGuys, actually love: Freshness is key here!

If you visit at lunch time you can partake in their buffet or otherwise choose from their elaborate menu.  They will soon offer a buffet punch card that will get you a free round after your 10th buffet.

Another thing to note about the buffet is that it always has at least one item that is not featured on their a la carte menu. This could include things like sweet coconut rice (which pairs amazingly well with the butter chicken) or their popular cabbage and peas dish.

If you’re looking for suggestions, we recommend the tandoori prawns, palak paneer, pakoras and garlic naan! Or just order one of everything on the menu – we wouldn’t blame you!
