In case you’ve ever wondered what an aerial view of a baseball game would be like…

Victoria HarbourCats fans now have the opportunity to combine cheering on their favourite baseball team, and taking part in an adventure sport themselves at the same time.

The HarbourCats have teamed up with WildPlay to install a 400-foot zipline running across the Wilson’s Group Stadium at Royal Athletic Park for fans to enjoy!

This official “WildPlay Zipline, presented by TELUS Wireline” will be open to the public for the first time on June 1st, when the HarbourCats host their first Peninsula Co-op Alumni Classic game.

This means fans can zoom across the field for the first time this Saturday while they watch the Special Olympics pre-game softball game that is happening prior to the Alumni Classic.

First of its kind

Believed to be the first ever zipline to operate during a baseball game, this new attraction is located beyond the right field fence toward Pembroke St, and runs parallel to Cook Street.

“This is a big first and we want to thank the City of Victoria for sharing this vision of adding a major attraction at Wilson’s Group Stadium at Royal Athletic Park,” said Jim Swanson, Managing Partner/GM of the HarbourCats. ”

“We look forward to expanding our WildPlay Victoria presence to include this exciting new experience” said Tom Benson, CEO of WildPlay Element Parks “The zipline is going to thrill our guests and be a great new addition in the heart of the community.”

Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets for the zipline in advance, as there will only be 200 tickets available for each game.

At a cost of $12.50, advance tickets will be available through the team office or on-line at each individual game link on the HarbourCats ticketing web page at harbourcats.ticketrocket.co.

If you choose to take your chances, tickets will also be available at the venue on game day for $15 a pop.

After Cuba plays two exhibition games on June 2 (vs. Port Angeles at 1pm and the ‘Cats at 6:35pm) the HarbourCats open their regular season home schedule next Friday, June 7th.
