Annual World Oceans Day celebration returns to Victoria Fisherman’s Wharf this weekend

Share

Ocean, animal, and overall environment lovers will want to head down to Fisherman’s Wharf this weekend to check out the free annual World Oceans Day celebration!

The event runs all day and is full of interesting and free things to do for both children and adults.

Activities include an interactive ‘touch tank’ filled with sea critters, face painting, scuba diving demonstrations, 20 different environmental and educational organization displays, and a life-sized killer whale skeleton.

Visitors will be able to get hands-on with the skeleton and participate in a ‘Build-A-Whale’ workshop which teaches about marine biology, anatomy, evolutionary science, and conservation.

While the free event promises some memorable family fun, World Oceans Day at Fisherman’s Wharf is also focused on environmental education and conservation support.

You can also learn about how the Earth’s rich oceans benefit human beings, like generating oxygen, regulating the climate, providing medicinal ingredients, and more, and how we can change daily habits to protect our planet’s water.
