UPDATE: Most Instagram users are now able to access the app via both mobile and desktop.
The cause of the outage has yet to be revealed.
Earlier: Instagram is currently down according to thousands of users in Canada, US, and Europe.
As of around 3:20 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, approximately 4,000 people took to a popular outage website to report that the photo-sharing platform is experiencing outages.
Countless users have also taken to Twitter to bemoan the absence of their favourite social media platform.

For those affected, refreshing the Instagram mobile app yields a “couldn’t refresh feed” message, while users on the desktop website see a blank page with the message “5xx Server Error” or “Oops, an error occurred” on the top left corner.

Most of the issues reported are by users in the US, Canada, UK, India, Australia, Russia, Ukraine, Italy, Portugal, and Greece.
More to come.
