Victoria has always been a city bursting with artists, filmmakers, creators, and musicians, and now there’s an easy way to check out the community’s rhapsodic music scene all in one place!
Nearly 100 local musicians have come together to create a massive Spotify playlist, aptly called Victoria Music Scene, featuring dozens of songs that range from folk to pop to electronic to rock and so much more.

The playlist was first created on May 24th, 2019, by local musician Cody Rueger. He launched the project after noticing that the community was filled with talented performers but few outlets to learn about them or hear their music.
“I just want to see local musicians get more recognition and support because there’s so many of us and so many talented people around,” Rueger told Victoria Buzz.
“It’s just that a lot of people don’t know about them.”
While Victoria Music Scene already features almost 100 artists, Rueger is always looking to add more to the playlist.
The easiest way to have local artists be added to the list is to make songs available on Spotify or on official Facebook pages.
For those who don’t utilize these channels, you can also submit your songs to Rueger by emailing him at codyruegermusic@gmail.com.
When asked if just anyone could submit their songs, Rueger said that the only requirement was that the musician had to live in Victoria.
“It’s for the locals, I don’t want to exclude anyone,” he said.
