A Victoria woman is currently recovering from traumatic injuries in an American hospital after she was struck by the same car twice while on a vacation to LA earlier this month.
On June 13th, Lynn Phillips was on a trip to Los Angeles, California, when the driver of a car struck her, and then in a panic, reversed their vehicle and hit her again.
According to a GoFundMe campaign created for Phillips, she was then rushed to the intensive care unit of UCLA Ronald Reagan Hospital for a series of major injuries, including two collapsed lungs, a broken arm, several broken ribs, multiple broken points in her collar bone, and internal bleeding, and was placed on a ventilator to assist her breathing.
The fundraising campaign, Lynn Phillips (McLean) Recovery Fund #Lynnstrong, was launched on June 15th with a goal of raising $125,000 to assist with medical costs and travel for her family to visit her in LA.
At the time of publication, $45,097 has been raised by 271 people.
While Phillips had travel insurance, the family expects medical treatment to be costly and ongoing, with a long road to recovery.
While she’s far from out of the woods, her recovery process has begun and she was released from the ICU on Saturday, June 22nd, .
Doctors hope that Phillips will be stable enough to be medically air transported back to a Victoria hospital by the middle of this week.
