Drunk driver arrested after crashing his truck as he fled police into oncoming traffic near Langford

A 55-year-old man is in custody following a car crash on the Trans Canada Highway near Millstream Saturday.

The incident happened around 11:55 a.m. in Langford. Witnesses reported a green Ford F350 truck was driving erratically and struck the highway meridian several times.

West Shore RCMP caught up to the vehice on the Trans Canada Highway travelling southbound towards Veterans Memorial Parkway. The suspected impaired driver fled in his vehicle when officers attempted to stop him.

Moments later, police located the vehicle travelling into oncoming traffic on the McCallum Road off ramp and observed it collide with the concrete barrier.

The driver was arrested by police.

The suspect, who is known to police, sustained minor injuries and there were no other vehicles or passengers involved in the collision. He is under investigation for failing to stop, dangerous driving and impaired driving.
