A rare hands-on Hollywood event is coming to Victoria this summer!

Have you ever wanted to try video motion capture, experience Emmy award-winning makeup, or practice voice acting with Sailor Moon voice actress Tracey Moore?

Well now you can at the Kre8Studio event this August!

Kre8Studio is a multi-day event that features a series of hands-on workshops designed to teach about Hollywood film practices, support emerging local talent, and inspire the imagination.

From August 9th – 18th, attendees can get personal time with film and television industry leaders, like Emmy award winning make-up artist Charles Porlier, motion and animation graphics expert Ezra Istiroti, voice actor John Stocker, and legendary Sailor Moon voice actress Tracey Moore.

The Hollywood veterans will help you work with industry gear, like a full body MoCap suit, a head-mount camera that lets you see your animated face on screen, and voice work with Sailor Moon herself.

Besides working with industry-grade equipment, Victorians can sign up for a more physical Day of the Jedi training event.

The day will teach you how to use a range of weapons and martial arts forms from Victoria’s Wong Sheung Kung Fu Club, the oldest kung fu club in the city and the presenters of the annual Dragon Dance parade in Chinatown during Chinese New Year.

Once you’ve mastered some of the kung fu basics, participants will get a chance to record themselves in a full MoCap suit to create a video that showcases all of your movements animated into a Jedi battle scene.

At the end of the day, you’ll even get to take that video home!

“Media arts are available to everyone, so everyone can create content,” said Moore in a statement.

“That’s what Facebook is. The industry is crying out for original content and there has never been a bigger market. We all have the technology right in our phones… Our experts are here to connect your vision and make it appear in story or character.”

“I also want to tap into the massive tech community in Victoria and provide opportunity for coders and designers to immerse themselves in story telling in a new way and give them the support to create original stuff. Our ongoing goal is to develop a vibrant community of original artists in media that provide content online for a worldwide market, directly from Kre8Studio.”

The ten-day Kre8Studio event is open to anyone who’s interested in media arts, from amateur to professional. Registration and prices for the workshops can be found online here.
