At approximately 6:15 a.m. Tuesday morning, the cougar was spotted on Eldon Place near Rudd Park.

Before Tuesday’s sighting, the same cougar was spotted multiple times in the Hampton Park area along Tillicum Road on Sunday, June 6th.

“The Saanich Police are warning all residents in the area to be aware of their surroundings to ensure the safety of themselves, small pets and children,” said the department in a statement.

Police recommend keeping pets indoors if possible, and to be cautious when walking outside with children or pets.

The BC Conservation Service has been notified of the animal sightings and is working with police to locate the cougar.
