An armed and dangerous man was arrested by West Shore RCMP over the weekend after they spotted him sleeping in a stolen car in Colwood.

On Saturday, at approximately 5:40 a.m., West Shore RCMP was called to Six Mile Road near Atkins Avenue for reports of a man sleeping in the driver’s seat of a stolen black Mercedes Benz coup that was stolen from Duncan two days earlier.

When officers arrived at the car, they found the male suspect still asleep inside the vehicle and attempted to arrest him.

During the arrest, the man began to physically fight with the officers and during the struggle a loaded 9mm handgun fell out of his waistband.
