23-year-old man arrested for throwing rocks at tubers on Cowichan River

Police say a 23-year-old Duncan man was arrested on last Sunday after allegedly throwing rocks at several people tubing down the Cowichan River.

North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP said the incident unfolded around 6:10 p.m. on August 4th, when they received a number of reports of potential assaults happening on the river near Indian Road in Duncan.

The suspect was reported to have been throwing rocks at tubers floating down the river. At least one woman sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident.

Police were able to locate the suspect leaving the area and are crediting the help of bystander information for helping them locate the suspect quickly.

He has yet to appear in court and the file remains under investigation.
