Sooke firefighters have extinguished a brush fire that broke out near Basinview Heights this afternoon.

The fire was originally estimated to be 100 x 40 feet in size and was reported at around 12:30 p.m. on Monday.

Sooke Fire Rescue responded to the fire along with mutual aid partners from Otter Point, Metchosin, and East Sooke Fire Departments.

It took approximately two and half hours for a team of twelve responding firefighters to fully extinguish the blaze.

No structures were harmed by the fire.
