There’s plenty to around the island today, like massive community water fights, lots of outdoor festivals, delicious food truck events, and more!

Without further ado, here are 17 things to do in and around Victoria today.

Saturday

Sarah Beckett Memorial Park Fundraiser

Join the Cherish Summer Splash and West Shore Rotary Club for day of fun activities al in support of the Sarah Beckett Memorial Park!

The fundraiser will feature fun water games, a Langford Fire Dunk Tank, a pancake breakfast, BBQ lunch, and more! Entrance fee into the fundraiser is completely by donation, with 100% of the money raised going towards the memorial children’s park.

Water Gun Wars!

Want to prove your might in the field of battle and beat the heat? Victoria’s largest water gun battle is once again happening at Fort Rodd Hill! Participants can try to storm the Fort, test their aim with target practice, and check out cool displays from the Fort’s community collaborators.

9th Annual Central Saanich Family Festival

The 9th annual Central Saanich Family Festival is this Saturday, and it promises to be one of the best ones yet!

While the Peninsula Country Market takes place every Saturday in the summer, this weekend’s event will be bigger than ever, including a complete transformation of the Saanich Fairgrounds for the massive family festival!

There will be inflatable bouncy castles, live performances by local musicians, 70 vendors showcasing locally made products, baked goods, food, and more!

BC Shaver + Hobbies Grand Opening at Hillside Centre

Formerly located on Fort Street in downtown Victoria, the popular shop has now opened their doors within Hillside Shopping Centre – so now it’s easier than ever to get your favourite hobby fix!

To celebrate, they are holding their very own grand opening this weekend, from August 16th to 18th, where on top of the incredible deals they always house, they’ll have door-crasher prizes, raffle draws, giveaways and even double rewards for the launch of their new loyalty program!

Free-B 2019: Jurassic Park

Head down to the Cameron Bandshell at Beacon Hill Park for a free outdoor screening of Jurassic Park!

Paleontologists Alan Grant (Sam Neill) and Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) and mathematician Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) are among a select group chosen to tour an island theme park populated by dinosaurs created from prehistoric DNA. While the park’s mastermind, billionaire John Hammond (Richard Attenborough), assures everyone that the facility is safe, they find out otherwise when various ferocious predators break free and go on the hunt.

Pet-A-Palooza Victoria

The social event of the year for dogs and their people! This free and pet friendly festival is not one to be missed! The event will be held at a new location – Bullen Park.

Head to the beach in Colwood every Friday and  Saturday for lunch or dinner from your favourite local food trucks with free, live, local music from 5 to 7 p.m. It’s a casual beach event where friends and family enjoy great food and music in the fresh ocean air, relax on the beach, play in the waves and watch the sun go down over the ocean.

2019 P&R Truck Centre Daffodil Cup

Comics 101

Lighthouse’s 21st Birthday Bash!

Victoria Gem & Mineral Show

Western Canada’s largest Gem show continues its three-day run in Victoria today!

The fifth annual Victoria Gem & Mineral Show will bring together over 45 of the top gem, mineral, and jewelry vendors from across Canada and showcase a range of unique gems, fine crystals, rare fossils, handmade jewelry, and more. Plus, there will be hourly door prizes!

Fireworks at Butchart Gardens

Every summer since 1977, Butchart Gardens have put on a brilliant weekly fireworks display, and this year is no different.

Butchart Gardens summer hours are 8:45 am to 10:00 pm, but the gardens remain open for an hour after the admissions gate closes.

Access to the fireworks and subsequent events are included in general admission. So you can explore the Gardens to your heart’s content before settling in for the show.

Buzz on location: Food truck frenzy at Westshore Town Centre!

Have your eats, and do some shopping too! Westshore Town Centre’s got you covered this summer! Happening  you can join them for a day full of foodie fun – and that’s just the tip of the iceberg!

Along with the extensive list of food trucks joining Westshore Town Centre that day, there will also be family-friendly activities including a bouncy castle, free face painting and musical entertainment.

Plus, Westshore Town Centre is giving away a $100 gift card to their very own Fairway Market, and the delicious eats don’t stop there!

Kre8 Smash Ultimate Tournament

A massive Super Smash Bros Ultimate Tournament is coming to Victoria on Sunday, and the gaming event will be hosted by two voice acting stars, Tracey Moore — voice of Princess Peach and Sailor Moon — and John Stocker — voice of Toad!

The event, called Kre8 Smash Ultimate Tournament is being held at the Fernwood Community Centre, and will feature a Nintendo Switch grand prize, plus a $500 pot bonus for elite competitors.

Beckwith Big Band Brunch – 3rd Annual

Head down to the Lambrick Park Lacrosse Box for an evening of sunset rollerblading!
